Blaugust Day 8: Art Trade with Missy

The other day I was commenting on Missy’s blog, Sparks In The Horizon, specifically on the Day 3 post about her Draenei pic. The conversation went a bit like this.

Me: Nice pictures, but they’re no drunk Homer-asaurus. I can knock those out of the park

Missy: Thanks, but I can do them too, and knock them further out of the park

Me: Yeah, I’d love to see you try

Missy: Oh it’s on!

Gloves were tossed down, taunts and threats were made, there was a spark off in the horizon and a challenge was made. Missy wanted to try her hand at making an unimpressed tyrannosaurus that I had trouble doing. I figured we could up the ante and turn it into an art trade, and a trade of art it became.

Over the course of a couple days, some Twitter messages were thrown at both sides and some onlookers in awe at our incredible amature capabilities. In the end, backs were stabbed (more like patted), blows were landed (more like high fives) and casualties were in the high thousands (actually there wasn’t one) but a truce was finally agreed upon and we made our trades.

Missy got a character art of her Draenei hunter.

Time to kick some Orc butt!

I however got two new members to the Tyrannodorkus family. Say hello to Spotty and Stripes.

I got the better end of the deal here. After all, two cute dinos trump a bow wielding space goat. This has been a fun project, and one that just sprang out of nowhere. Missy did a great job especially after reading she couldn’t do dino feet before making these two adorable rex’s. I hope she enjoys the character art of her Draenei hunter and maybe we’ll decide to throw the gloves down and do another again.

  1. Haha, like how you wrote this up, made me giggle. It was so fun doing an art trade <3 I didn't really make the dino unimpressed though, I failed :P But I am glad we did it, you actually made the draenei look unimpressed, like she just feels it's a drag having to shoot someone way beneath her..

    1. Thanks so much. It just takes practice, and trying not to get in a hurry drawing. That's the biggest part.
